21st Birthday
An inside look at drinking for 21st birthdays
In all 50 states it is the law. A sort of curse on those not quite old enough to drink. The number 21 is held in high regard by most young adults, circled in their mental calenders years in advance. It is the age when drinking alcohol is no longer a crime but a rite of passage. After so many years of waiting, is it so surprising that many go wild with their new freedom and celebrate by binge drinking? Or is the surprise found when a 21-year-old chooses not to drink on his birthday? We interviewed two TCU students on their 21st birthdays. One has been a casual drinker for almost four years, the other has his fun without alcohol. |
Extreme drinking on 21st birthdays has become the norm. We surveyed close to 200 TCU students to find the facts. |
